Maya — “I stopped trying to study like everyone else”

Maya always thought she was “bad at studying.” She could spend hours looking at her notes and still struggle to remember what she had read.

Things started to change when she stopped copying other students’ routines and experimented with what actually worked for her. Instead of long study sessions, Maya started using 20-minute bursts with a clear goal for each one. She also began using voice notes to explain topics out loud rather than rewriting pages of notes.

What helped Maya:

  • Study in short, timed bursts rather than aiming for hours.
  • Give each study session one specific goal.
  • Try explaining the topic out loud instead of rereading it.
  • Use voice notes, diagrams or flashcards if traditional notes aren’t sticking.

Her biggest realisation? Needing a different way to learn didn’t mean she wasn’t capable of learning.
